Maple Ridge Ladies Golf Association (LGA) Ramps Up For A Busy 2010!
The Maple Ridge Ladies Golf Association (LGA) is a group of women members who are dedicated to the game of golf. The group schedules events providing lots of fun, competition and social activity including lunches, dinners, game nights and fundraising events. The LGA meets on the first Monday of every month, with a golf activity on the Saturday following the meeting. The ladies also have a regular play day every Monday through the year.
The official LGA tournament days are on the Saturday following the monthly Monday meeting of each month, with entry fee of $5. Mondays are designated as LGA "Play Days" featuring various formats, and cost $1 to enter. LGA members may play Saturday or Monday, or both days. Each day is a separate tournament which will be flighted if the number participants is ten or more.
It only costs $20 to join the LGA, and you can become a member by contacting one of our Golf Pros, Mike Gill or Gene Matthews. LGA officers for 2010 are Nan Truesdell, President; Linda Brown, Vice President; Bobbi Markham, Secretary and Diane Dana, Treasurer. Linda Brown is a welcoming ambassador for the group.
The LGA has about 35 members, and invites all female golfers, age 18 or older, to join the LGA and enjoy the camaraderie that it has to offer.
New Member Classification announced:
In an effort to involve some of the beginner or even non-golfing ladies at Maple Ridge Golf Club, the Ladies Golf Association voted last year to create an ASSOCIATE MEMBER classification.
With the LGA's effort to expand its activities beyond just golf, the LGA members plan to welcome more of the female members of Maple Ridge to join the LGA and participate in the monthly "girls night out". Plan to join the LGA for dinner and social activities on the first Monday night of each month. Please feel free to visit at any of the LGA monthly gatherings. Contact LGA Membership Chairperson Patty Hudspeth with any questions on this new opportunity at Maple Ridge.

Prizes for ACE of ACES tourney will be provided from the LGA treasury.
The ACE Day is a Net competition. A minimum of four people is needed to continue an official ACE Day. A player can only be the ACE once during the year. The player who is determined to be ACE will get first-place prize for the event. If you have been ACE previously that year, you will receive the second-place prize. The entry fee is $1 for each ACE Day competition.
ACE Day information sheets are available on the LGA Bulletin Board.
BIRDIE / PAR TREES
The LGA sponsors a Birdie / Par Tree competition annually. An LGA member is designated as the Birdie / par tree Chairperson. The Birdie Tree is for ladies with handicaps of 20 or less and the Par Tree is for ladies with handicaps of 21 or higher.
There are two Birdie / Par Tree competitions each year. The first session is March-June and the second session is July-October. Only birdies and pars scored during LGA sponsored activities may be counted for the Birdie / par tree competitions. This includes Monday play, monthly Saturday events and ACE Day play.
The Birdie / Par Tree will be posted on the LGA bulletin board, in the ladies room at the Golf Club.
