LET'S TALK TURF
Our routine growing season maintenance is back in full swing! Our schedule is as follows: Mowing greens 5 to 7 days per week, tees - approaches - fairways 2 to 3 times per week, and roughs once per week. Grass bunker slopes and detail trimming every 3 weeks. Creek bed and lake bank trimming 3 times per year. Bunkers are raked or spot checked daily. Pin locations changed 3 times per week. Greens are watered and chemicals applied to turf as needed. We try to keep a fairly routine schedule with these maintenance chores. However, sometimes weather conditions, equipment problems or labor issues may temporarily prevent a perfect world! But we will always strive to make Maple Ridge the best it can be.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
May We Help You ... Two things come to mind in May...May we help you entertain clients or guests during lunch (we have pasta specials on Wednesday, Mexican specials on Thursday, and Grouper specials on Friday...along with your other menu favorites) or just plan to join us for lunch before or after your round of golf. Our Philly Steak Sandwiches have become a favorite in just a short time since their introduction.
The second...May we help you entertain for Birthday, Anniversary, Office, or any other type of party that may be in your future plans. We offer everything from plated dinners to hors d'oeuvres on our menu or we can customize a menu to your needs (last year we even did Surf and Turf for a party). Call us to check on available dates and book your function.
Thanks for your support!!!

EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION
I want to take this time to thank our employees for their continuing efforts to make Maple Ridge Golf Club such a great place to work and play. During the last few weeks, I had the opportunity to play in two outings at other clubs and I am here to tell you...there's no place like the Ridge. Our staff and course are second to none and seeing how other clubs run their events, makes me appreciate our staff and the job they do to maintain our course as well as all areas of customer service. We are not perfect by any means, but our goal is continual improvement in all areas to make your experience at the Club the best that it can be.
Thanks to our employees who go the extra mile for all of us! As always...let us know your thoughts so that we may continue to improve.
Tom Kubik, General Manager
WE'RE IN FULL SWING IN MAY!
Good News.....The "Plus Four" membership drive is still going strong and will continue well on into the summer. The value-added concept has gone over real well with all of our new and potential members. Depending on one's initiation fee, new members receive up to four gifts each valued at over $100.00, resulting in big savings for each new member. Maple Ridge has added over 50 great new members in 2008! We look forward to keeping that number growing.
Golf Outings are also big this month. International Friendship Ministries on May 6th, Volvo Rents on May 13th, Harvey Lumber Company on May 20th, and St. Francis Hospital on Friday, May 30th. As we move into the summer months, we continue to have corporate and small group outings here at Maple Ridge. If you would like to book your small group outing or corporate tournament, you may call me or Rick Jacobson at 706-569-0966. The available Tuesday dates for future outings are May 27th, July 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd; August 19th, September 2nd, November 25th, and December 16th, 23rd and 30th.
Happy Golfing!

CONTINUING EFFORTS
April's been a bonanza as far as attracting many fine new people to our membership ranks. Just since the last Maple Ridge Messenger, we welcome to our midst John Feeney, Cole Phillips, Rob Cranston, Fred Huff, Ronnie Sanders, Steve Steinhauer, Phil Sparks, Shawn and Jessica Hermenau and Frank Pacheco! As we meet and get to know these folks personally, we hope you'll extend the welcome mat, too, when it comes to filling in your foursome.
Meanwhile we've scheduled a New Member Reception on Monday, May 19 (from 7-8 p.m.) at which our fifty-plus 2008 joiners can get to know each other, meet staff and enjoy refreshments. Invitations go out this week, we'll have fun and surprises, so hope to see all of you and member sponsors there!
Lastly, for some of our big weekend tournaments like the Chattahoochee Cup, Club Championship and Ridgefest Invitational, we're presenting sponsorship opportunities to area companies. The goal is to increase entrant benefits, offer prime exposure for firms who seek our golfer demographic and enhance the overall atmosphere of our big events. We also have the chance to revive and co-host the "Bi-City Amateur" (longtime area individual tourney) with another Columbus, Ft. Benning or Phenix City course. More on this effort later.
