WHAT'S COOKIN'...

Busy MARCH Schedule ... Continues

The Oyster & Poker Night was very successful in spite of some rookie shuckers. Good news is that there was only one stab wound (Mike Gill may have a weak left hand grip for a while).

Friday night dining ends for the month of March on the 14th, but will return on the 4th and 11th of next month.

Thanks again for your feedback with regards to food and beverage offerings here at your Club. We value your opinion and your ideas continue to prompt changes in our offerings.

Thanks for your support!!!

Dick Esterson, Food & Beverage Director

FOCUS GROUP MEETINGS...

Based on the feedback, questions, comments, and constructive criticism that management receives from our members, we feel that our membership is well aware of an open mind and door policy here at the Club. In 2008, Mike Gill and I will be hosting Focus Group lunches at least once per quarter to bounce our ideas off of you and give you the same opportunity to express your thoughts about the Club with us. The group will vary for each meeting so that we can better reach our all of our diverse membership.

Thank you, our members, for your support and for making Maple Ridge Golf Club such a special place...we look forward to discussing the continual improvement of your Club.

SIMPLY CHERYL

Exciting News!!!! We have a NEW and MUCH IMPROVED Website! The address is still www.golfmapleridge.com, but you will find that the website is much friendlier and more informative. Our home page includes the latest club news, including Member Achievements, Member Spotlights, Upcoming and Recent Happenings. You can click on any event, and see pairings, results, scores and on some occasions, photo galleries. We are very proud of our new website, and hope you will take advantage of all it has to offer!

As I write this, Couples Golf is beginning again. This is a great opportunity for couples to have a great "Date Night" ! Golf and dinner, what a great combination! The schedule will normally be every other Friday evening. Check the website or call the front desk for more details.

Hope all of you have a WONDERFUL EASTER! Happy Golfing!

DON'T TELL ME - SHOW ME!

As a PGA Member, I pride myself on knowing the rules of golf. However, when asked to make a ruling I will always find the ruling in the USGA Rule Book and show the ruling to the competitor. After all it's not my rule, good or bad it takes me out of the equation.

I preach to my high school golfers to carry a rule book in their bag and get familiar with using it. The RULE BOOK tells you how to use it on the inside cover. Just recently a student was helping a person find their ball, during the process he caused the ball to move. He was assessed a two shot penalty.

Rule 18-4 NO PENALTY. We've all had similar situations. Unfortunately the person who expresses their opinion of the rule with the most confidence is typically the one that wins.

Learn to use the RULE BOOK. Don't tell me ---Show me

LET'S TALK TURF

Spring Time Is NOW Upon Us... As the length of day has become noticeably longer and frost delays are now a distant memory it is time to complete our "pre-season to-do" list for the growing season ahead. Some of the turf maintenance procedures on this list you may see us perform over the next several weeks include; pressurizing & testing the irrigation system, mowing down the dormant roughs, aerating greens, tees and fairways with spiking blades and high-pressure water injection, applying chemical on greens and tees to remove over-seeded turf, taking soil samples and applying fertilizer based on the test results.

Most of these procedures will cause little or no disruption in the playing surfaces, so please bear with us if you experience any short-term inconvenience since the long-term result will help make Maple Ridge the best it can be.

RICK'S RANTS

My favorite part of each newsletter is recognizing, thanking and introducing new members, because I know how much they'll enjoy themselves at Maple Ridge. Chris and Brandi Lewis, Payton Zeigler and Brandon Haynes are the latest to join. We welcome them and know that you, our existing members, will, too.

These and all other new members coming on board are reaping the extras that come with the "Plus Four" membership campaign. You'll see our billboards on Miller Road (near Warm Springs Connector) and Veterans Parkway (not far from Hamilton Hardware). Plus-Four model Mike Kocian and riding mate Joe VanSickle grace our signs - if any of you other knicker-wearers tip us off as to when you'll have your best outfit on, we'll take some pictures and use them, too!

We've got two TV commercials running on NBC-38, for which some of you were kind enough to help us, posing as extras. Sorry, your royalties checks will not be in the mail! Also, those of you who receive Town Shopper coupons in the mail - we're in the latest batch! Please use, or give it to a friend who's a prospect.
