CHERYL’S SLANTS

Hello Golfers!
I hope this finds you all “well and warm”. Warmer weather is right around the corner, and along with it…the “ Golf Bug”. We at Maple Ridge are excited about the upcoming spring weather. Along with the spring weather comes our new membership campaign. Look for our marketing efforts on billboards, in your mailboxes, and on television. Don’t be surprised if you see some of our members becoming local celebrities from our marketing efforts. Several of them are featured in our sales materials!

A reminder – for the rest of February, anytime members bring a guest, he or she plays for just $35, and both of you get lunch free! Regular guest rates resume March 1.

Thanks to all of our members for continuing to promote our fantastic golf club. You truly make Maple Ridge the “Friendliest, most affordable Golf Club in the area!” Happy Golfing!

Cheryl Klobe, Sales and Marketing Manager

LET’S TALK TURF

“Winter Time” Golf Course Conditions … As the winter season drags on we begin to notice conditions around the course have deteriorated somewhat. When the turf is not growing and has become completely dormant it obviously can’t recuperate and heal itself as it does during the growing season. So things such as highly compacted fairways from cart traffic, divots on tees and fairway landing areas, and ball marks on greens all become more noticeable and most likely affect your score.

However, we can all take a few moments during our round to help improve these “winter time” conditions by following three simple procedures. 1) When driving your cart, stay on the cart path as much as possible, and after you have played your ball in the fairway, return to the cart path using the most direct route. 2) Fill your divot and another with sand. 3) Repair your ball mark and another with a repair tool. Your efforts with this may improve your score and will always help make Maple Ridge the best it can be.

Our trial membership offering will be ending soon, so potential members interested in checking us out for two months at the cost of one month’s dues should go online ASAP to http://www.ledger-enquirer.comand click on “Subscriber Rewards”. Follow the clicks to Maple Ridge and print out your coupon, then call me or Cheryl at 706-569-0966. If you don’t take home delivery of the local paper, you can’t access the coupon now, but we’ll take care of you by phone during the month of February.

The “Plus Four” and “Phenomenal Foursome” membership drive starts March 1. New members, based on their initiation fee, select up to four excellent incentives (each worth at least $100) from a list of nine choices, rewarding their decision to join.
